“Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, Rhaegar fought honorably. And Rhaegar died.”
In his youth Robert Baratheon was a paragon of a man, stronger and larger than most others on the battlefield. His chosen weapon was a war hammer of such immense size his friend Ned Stark could not wield it. The hammer was forged by Donal Noye while he was still the smith at Storm’s End, and Robert’s prowess with it was legendary. In tournaments he was never much for jousting, preferring a melee where he could bludgeon his opponents senseless.
It was his war hammer Robert carried that day on the river. A Targaryen army led by Rhaegar Targaryen and Ser Barristan Selmy, with Dornish levies under command of Prince Lewyn Martell, met Robert’s rebel army on the Green Fork of the Trident. During the battle Barristan the Bold cut down many men, but was eventually himself grievously wounded, taking him from Rhaegar’s side. Lewyn Martell was later killed by Ser Lyn Corbray, leaving only Rhaegar left in command.
Robert was never one to lead from the rear and his advance eventually brought him into combat with Prince Rhaegar. Robert decided the battle and ended the Targaryen rule in Westeros when his hammer crushed Rhaegar’s breastplate, spilling the rubies that adorned it into the water, giving the area now known as the Ruby Ford its name.

No 1259...
Bought for my boyfriends 21st birthday. He was blown away! Even the packaging is great. It's heavier than expected and is simply beautiful. Definitely not the last purchase, we will be back! Thank you Valyrian Steel.

a handful of epicness
just received my warhammer and I couldn't be more delighted! the gold rings had areas where it was completely rubbed off or scratched to show the black underneath as well as imperfections on the handle and the paint job on the head of the hammer. I was pretty bummed out about it but when I checked what number piece I had I was thrilled to find out I had number one! I think that makes up for the imperfections I found. this piece is truly magnificent. very happy

amazing however....
I absolutely love my new war hammer that I got about a week or so ago. It is sturdy and strong but if you hold it at the leather wrapped handle it bends down from the weight. There us also a typo on the box and certificate of authenticity that says:"it his was his war hammer Robert carried that day on the river...etc." I was just wondering if all the boxes and coas said this. But I am very happy with this prized possession of mine thank you and keep up the good work

WICKED!
All I can say is that I could not be happier. The hammer is awesomely sexy and I love it. This was my first purchase from VS and I have Longclaw on the way and I cannot wait to see what else VS have created with their fantastic skill. The signed certificate is pretty neat too. Great Job Valyrian Steel, never stop fulfilling every nerds dream.

A Hammer fit for a King!
Given Valyrian Steel's reputation, I had really high standards on what this was going to look like. It is absolutely exquisite. It weighs like a fantasy warhammer should
(that is, a freaking ton). The haft is beautifully crafted - the handle grip is clearly of a high quality, and the 24k gold plated ringlets against the perfect ebony black haft really sets the whole thing off. The head is a marvel - beautiful gold inlay against a wondrously textured metal head. I also have Damascus Ice on order, and after getting this I really can't wait any longer. Super psyched! Thank you so, so much Valyrian Steel!

Review
Received no.1236 in the mail today and I got to say it wasn\'t as great as people worded it to be. Oh no what have I done! I have angered the internet people on this page! My main criticisms are with the parts of the head of the hammer. As of the handle I have don\'t have too many bad things to say about it. The leather is wrapped neatly, paint is done evenly and the gold rings don\'t have too many imperfections. Though my spike on the end is bent at an angle which I believe may have come from people standing the box upright as I felt the whole weight of the hammer there when I was unpacking it. Oh and the metal rod they use isn\'t as solid as you think. It is hollow and most likely just the same quality as a rod you might find on a mop/broom. You cannot hold the piece horizontally from the leather grip for an extended amount of time without the possibility creating a bend. I don\'t really find that to be a problem but some people would want to know.

Now the hammer itself is actually 2 pieces. I bought this thinking it would be one SOLID piece just being a hunk of metal in-and-out.
There is actually a very small crack the runs on the the sides of it as you can see in the fourth photo that would prove this. This the same with the hand piece right underneath it which does move about a bit and not held tightly in place. Kind of like the line you find on plastic toys. The piece is not solid and is in face hollow. The paint and textures were fine.

In the images the side spike actually looks like it has 4 different pieces layered over each other, but really its just one piece with painted lines to create the illusion of the shadows. Close-up the paint job looks wobbly and uneven but you don\'t notice it from a distance. My top spike was not wobbly and is good.

Now I do understand that this is a display piece but if I was Robert Bartheon reincarnated I would not bring this into battle thats for sure. It just feels too insecure at the top handle which wobbles like nobody\'s business and so much of my focus would be to reposition it in my hand. You cant just hold it from the leather piece and go all helicopter with it which would give you the most power, but you MAY be able to make a few hits this way. But not enough to endure a battle. You\'re better off holding it the other way and just using it as a spear.

For me personally when I hold it in my hands it doesn\'t feel like its worth its cost. It says its made in China which for me just screams of cheap production. If I were to give an estimate of the true total price of this hammer, including material, production and shipping costs I would say it would be around 50USD. The hammer is practically an asian cooking wok, both with big holes in the middle. The price tag is only justified by the huge popularity of the series.

Overall this satisfies its job as being what it was made for,- display piece. A look-alike. I\'d like to stress that term further. A LOOK-ALIKE. If you\'re looking for a true representation of what the hammer would\'ve actually been like beyond the surface, i.e the weight, power and sturdiness this isn\'t going to give you that.

Ours is the Fury!
Somehow gets more awesome every time I see it- it rattles a bit, but is otherwise quite solid. Looks fantastic on the wall next to Longclaw and considering it came with a COA autographed George R.R. Martin I\'m immensely happy with this purchase. #1187

Mehh?
Hammer looks nice which I suppose is a big thing but honestly was really hoping it wouldn't feel so flimsy why does it have to be hollow T.T makes me think of a broom of mop. I know it's just for show but I'd rather not have the fear of it getting damaged just by swinging it which I really would of liked to of done
(not hit anything just swing). Also certificate was creased which is kind of annoying when you want to frame it pristine could of been packaged better. Still looks nice if you just want it on the wall.
